Performance Tools is the applied companion to Data-Driven Coaching: Theory to Athlete Action. Each lab takes about 1–2 hours and asks coaches to use an IRSRI, rslts, or APOPT tool, inspect evidence, name uncertainty, and produce one useful coaching action.
The labs are arranged in the same 14-part sequence as the coaching modules. Weeks 1–4 focus on wearable and performance systems. Weeks 5–12 focus on video-based movement analysis across sports. Week 13 uses the open Form Analysis Canvas, and Week 14 asks coaches to design a responsible performance app of their own.
QUESTION → COLLECT → CHECK → INTERPRET → COACH → REASSESS
Question: Start with a decision the coach or athlete actually needs to make.
Collect: Use only authorized data or video that may answer that question.
Check: Confirm data coverage, camera angle, sensor quality, context, and missing information.
Interpret: Separate direct observations from estimates and possible explanations.
Coach: Give one or two proportionate actions that the athlete can understand and try.
Reassess: Define when and how the coach will look again.
Each lab produces a practical coaching artifact rather than a grade. A complete submission contains:
The coaching question and relevant athlete context.
Evidence from the selected tool.
At least one limitation or uncertainty.
One actionable athlete-facing recommendation.
A reassessment point or acceptance test.
A short reflection on the Generative AI knowledge-check prompts.
Remove names and direct identifiers before sharing information with an external AI system. Provide only the minimum data required for the decision. Ask specific questions, verify every cited source and numerical claim, and never allow an AI answer to replace athlete conversation, professional judgment, or clinical care.

Design Your Own Performance App
Use data only with athlete authorization. Keep identifiable records off public pages. Prefer de-identified exports, private folders, and the minimum necessary video segment. Do not upload athlete records to an external AI system without explicit authorization. Delete working copies when they are no longer needed.
Wearable, video, movement, heart-rate, and single-lead ECG outputs are coaching and screening information. They are not diagnoses, medical clearance, or proof of injury risk. Escalate symptoms, concerning patterns, and return-to-play decisions to qualified professionals.
